Stella Pericleous

Acupuncturist & Herbalist

Stella graduated from Victoria University of Technology with a double degree in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. She completed a three month internship at the Zhejiang Provincial Hospital in China where she witnessed first hand Chinese Medicine in a hospital setting. Experiencing this gave her an appreciation that both Western and Chinese Medicine can work together for optimum benefits for patients well-being.

Stella understands that it is necessary to use a complementary approach to health. There is no one shop fits all approach and she encourages her clients to talk to their GP's or specialist's as well as seeking Chinese Medicine.

Stella has been practicing Chinese Medicine for over 16 years. She first encountered Chinese Medicine as a young child when her father was receiving cupping at home. Her auntie lighting pieces of cotton wool soaked in a spirit and putting the blazing cotton wool in glass whisky tumblers. She found the fire and the big round bruises the cups created mesmerising.

As an adult Stella encountered Chinese Medicine whilst seeking treatment for her acne. After unsuccessful attempts at treating her acne with antibiotics she walked into a Chinese Medicine clinic in Footscray. The Chinese Medicine doctor sent her home with a few bags of tea to cook with instructions to return weekly. Initially there was little change in the skin but after a few weeks she noticed that her insomnia (which she hadn't mentioned during the consultation had significantly improved). She also noticed a gradual improvement in her period pain, something else she hadn't mentioned to her doctor due to the language barrier. All this inspired her to study Chinese Medicine and she completed a five and a half year double degree in Chinese Medicine. Stella went on to complete an internship in China and then set up her own practice!
